Life as Worship

In Romans 12, the Apostle begins a very practical dialogue concerning life as saints. In light of God’s mercies, Christians are expected to live serving as worship.

Romans 12:1-2 Part 1

God’s Loving Redemption

The Redemption of God for sinners reaches its peak of amazement when we consider that the Divine, Eternal God chose to reside in the womb of a young virgin. But it is also fascinating to observe the magnification response of this delicate yet devoted woman in yearning for the Salvation of God.

Luke 1:46-55

God’s Merciful Promise

True Repentance

Much confusion abounds today over the doctrine of repentance. The church in the city of Corinth had much to repent of and thankfully, they did genuinely offer a repentant heart after the Apostle Paul’s confrontational letter. In the second recorded letter to Corinthians, we find a command to forgive and restore the repentant saint as well as a description of true repentance.

2 Corinthians 7:9-11

Communion Corrected

In the Holy Scripture, there is not a church as infamous as the assembly in Corinth. But what they are known for is not flattering. Their pride and self-will had devoured them like a disease and was manifesting itself in various ways. One such issue was their frightening manner and motives in celebration of the communion of Christ, the Lord’s supper. God uses Paul in chapter 11 of I Corinthians to wake the saints up to their manner of worship which was placing them under Divine chastening.

I Corinthians 11:17-34

God’s Richest Reason: Theology to Doxology

As we come to a close in Romans 11, we discover that the great mercies of God expounded by the Apostle are for one perfect, Divine reason, the glory of God and the praise of His name. Before Paul moves from doctrine (Rom. 1-11) to practice (Rom. 12-16) he pauses to offer a song of praise to God who guarantees grace to all his people from Christ, through Christ and unto Christ.

Romans 11:31-36

God’s Relentless Mercy

All that we know of God’s Divine plan in redemption-election, predestination, salvation, Israel, Gentiles, human responsibility- and all that Paul has taught concerning the intricacies of the will and way of God is for the express purpose of demonstrating his relentless mercy to sinners. In this sermon, Pastor Matthew shows us from God’s Word the glorious plan of a God relentless in mercifully pursuing sinners.

Romans 11:22-32

Do Not Be Haughty, But Fear

A warning to Gentile nations that the same rejection that faced Israel is imminent if they would be lifted up with arrogance and to reject the knowledge of God and the Gospel. This passage contains a warning to America and we would do well to heed it.

Pastor Matthew Johnson
Romans 11:13-21

By God’s Gracious Choice

The blessings saints enjoy as a remnant of faith is only by God’s gracious choice. In this sermon, we are examining Romans 11 to see how God’s gracious choice in salvation provides comfort for Christians.
