Exaggerated Notions

Christ has ordained that his church should be a unified body working together for the glory of God. But that which will hinder the work of the ministry more than anything else is when we do not avail ourselves of the ordinary means of grace in growth and instead develop exaggerated notions of our own greatness.

Pastor Matthew Johnson
Romans 12:3-5

A Transformed Mind

In consideration of being called saints, those chosen to receive the Gospel of grace, God expects Christians to present their bodies as sacrifices of living worship and service, but our bodies are controlled by our minds. Therefore, the practical outworking of a committed Christian stems from a healthy mind transformed by being renewed in the Gospel of grace.

Romans 12:1-2

Life as Worship

In Romans 12, the Apostle begins a very practical dialogue concerning life as saints. In light of God’s mercies, Christians are expected to live serving as worship.

God’s Loving Redemption

The Redemption of God for sinners reaches its peak of amazement when we consider that the Divine, Eternal God chose to reside in the womb of a young virgin. But it is also fascinating to observe the magnification response of this delicate yet devoted woman in yearning for the Salvation of God.

Luke 1:46-55

God’s Merciful Promise

Viewing the incarnation of Christ from different perspectives is a valuable study. In today’s sermon, Pastor Matthew Johnson looks at the perspective of Zacharias, the priest who was the father of the Messiah’s forerunner, John.

Luke 1: 67-79

True Repentance

Much confusion abounds today over the doctrine of repentance. The church in the city of Corinth had much to repent of and thankfully, they did genuinely offer a repentant heart after the Apostle Paul’s confrontational letter. In the second recorded letter to Corinthians, we find a command to forgive and restore the repentant saint as well as a description of true repentance.

2 Corinthians 7:9-11

Communion Corrected

In the Holy Scripture, there is not a church as infamous as the assembly in Corinth. But what they are known for is not flattering. Their pride and self-will had devoured them like a disease and was manifesting itself in various ways. One such issue was their frightening manner and motives in celebration of the communion of Christ, the Lord’s supper. God uses Paul in chapter 11 of I Corinthians to wake the saints up to their manner of worship which was placing them under Divine chastening.

I Corinthians 11:17-34

God’s Richest Reason: Theology to Doxology

As we come to a close in Romans 11, we discover that the great mercies of God expounded by the Apostle are for one perfect, Divine reason, the glory of God and the praise of His name. Before Paul moves from doctrine (Rom. 1-11) to practice (Rom. 12-16) he pauses to offer a song of praise to God who guarantees grace to all his people from Christ, through Christ and unto Christ.
